Jaffna Public Library

Jaffna Public Library (Tamil: யாழ் பொது நூலகம்) is located in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. It is one of Jaffna's most notable landmarks, and is run by the Jaffna Municipal Council. The library was built in 1933 and burnt in 1981.
During the early 1980s, it was one of the biggest libraries in Asia, containing over 97,000 books and manuscripts. In 2001, rehabilitation of the library was completed, with new structure being built and new books received, although its old books and manuscripts were not replaced. It is Sri Lanka's second main public Library only rivaled by the Library in Colombo.
The building's classical lines and beautiful proportions make it stand out architecturally. It contains lush gardens and has been modernized with new facilities such as free-wifi that was added in 2016.

In its reconstruction, architects kept true to the elegant original neo-Mughal design from 1959. Today it’s a bright spacious place that's very actively used by Jaffna's citizens.
Jaffna residents have long considered their city to be one of Asia’s finest intellectual capitals, and the library is an important Tamil cultural centre and historic institution (it was inaugurated in 1841).  The original world-renowned collection destroyed in the fire included more than 90,000 volumes, including irreplaceable Tamil documents such as the one surviving copy of Yalpanam Vaipavama, a history of Jaffna.
There's a statue of Saraswati – Hinduism’s goddess of knowledge – out front. At the back there's an airy cafe.

Giza Pyramid - Egypt

The Great Pyramid of Giza (also known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops) is the oldest and largest of the three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex bordering what is now El Giza, Egypt. It is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the only one to remain largely intact.
Based on a mark in an interior chamber naming the work gang and a reference to fourth dynasty Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu, Egyptologists believe that the pyramid was built as a tomb over a 10 to 20-year period concluding around 2560 BC. Initially at 146.5 metres (481 feet), the Great Pyramid was the tallest man-made structure in the world for more than 3,800 years. Originally, the Great Pyramid was covered by casing stones that formed a smooth outer surface; what is seen today is the underlying core structure. Some of the casing stones that once covered the structure can still be seen around the base. There have been varying scientific and alternative theories about the Great Pyramid's construction techniques. Most accepted construction hypotheses are based on the idea that it was built by moving huge stones from a quarry and dragging and lifting them into place.

There are three known chambers inside the Great Pyramid. The lowest chamber is cut into the bedrock upon which the pyramid was built and was unfinished. The so-called[2] Queen's Chamber and King's Chamber are higher up within the pyramid structure. The main part of the Giza complex is a setting of buildings that included two mortuary temples in honour of Khufu (one close to the pyramid and one near the Nile), three smaller pyramids for Khufu's wives, an even smaller "satellite" pyramid, a raised causeway connecting the two temples, and small mastaba tombs surrounding the pyramid for nobles.

Seasons and Weather

Temperatures in Egypt are generally high, particularly during the summer months from May to August, when the sun can be very strong. If you're visiting Egypt during this time, take plenty of sunscreen. It's still fine to visit Egypt at these times of year and the heat is more dry than humid.
In Cairo and the Nile Delta region, winter (October to February) can be cooler, especially in the evenings and at night, so take a jacket, long-sleeved tops and trousers. The south remains warm during this time but again, temperatures do drop in the evenings. This is the best time to visit Egypt for sightseeing if you want to avoid the hot sun.
The shoulder months of September, March and April offer pleasant daytime temperatures and are considered ideal months to enjoy the Red Sea for sunbathing, swimming and snorkelling. Scuba diving can be enjoyed year-round.

Balaji Mandir - Dombivli East

Hisotry

SRI BALAJI MANDIR is a Temple for Sri Venkateswara (alias Balaji). It is located in Gokula Kshetram or Gograswadi in Dombivli (East), a distant suburb of Mumbai, between Thane and Kalyan Stations of Central Railway.
Sri Venkateswara, from his abode of Sri Vaikuntha, chooses to remain amongst us on earth in Archa form (or idol form) and gives us all pleasure of worshipping Him and be the recipients of His benevolent blessings. In the western region of Bharat, He is present with us at Gokul Kshetra (i.e. Gograswadi, Dombivli-East), and that is Sri Balaji Mandir or Paschim Tirupati.
The Mandir was consecrated in January 1983 and has become increasingly popular in a short time. The presiding deity Sri Balaji virtually is a replica of Sri Venkateswara in Tirumala-Tirupati – so the devotees visiting the shrine experience with immense satisfaction. Devotees from all walks of life in and around Dombivli and Mumbai participate with great enthusiasm in the activities of the Mandir. Large crowds come to Him to worship, for fulfillment of their cherished desires and redressal of their grievances.
Sannidhis

The main Sannadhi (sanctum sanctorum) is of Sri Balaji. His consorts ‘Sri’ and ‘Bhoo’ have sannadhis on his right and left – Sri Padmavathi Thayar and Sri Godha Devi (or Sri Andal). Sri Seetha and Sri Rama with Lakshmana and Hanuman have a sannadhi, and a separate sannadhi is also there for Sri Hanuman. Sri Sudarshanar (the Lord’s weapon, discus), who destroys evils and gives protection to devotees along with Sri Yoga Nrisimha has a sannadhi. There is a sannadhi for eminent Sri Vaishnavite Gurus of the past eras (Azhwars and Acharyas). A separate Temple for Navagraha (astrological nine planets) and Sri Paduka (of the Lord) also exists. The Mandir is built on the South Indian sculptural style, with a Raja Gopuram (main entrance tower).
